Maquoketa Community High School features a curriculum that serves the wide
variety of needs and interests of the school district’s children. Over 100 courses are offered in the core subjects, in the arts, and in vocational education.
In all three of these areas, accelerated courses augment the basics so that every student has the opportunity to have his/her needs met and, ideally, to excel. In addition, eligible students may take Iowa Communications Network, (ICN) classwork and/or post-secondary enrollment classes for college credit.
Outside of the classroom, MCHS offers a wide range of extracurricular and
co-curricular activities to ensure active participation for all students. Clubs and organizations related to the curriculum as well as a generous sampling of athletics, have produced award-winning efforts at
the local and state levels.
The high school also sponsors an alternative program, Maquoketa Alternative
Classroom (MAC), for nontraditional students.
